The Courts of Memory

Ulica Waliców, Warsaw

A city erased from history is reborn from its ashes, and seems to want to forget the pain suffered. In any case, some scars, even in their silence, tell more than words can. Then perhaps, although bearers of bad memories, the healed wounds remind us that we are still alive. A surviving building, a fragment of memory risks to be demolished to make space for building production. Architecture offers a different possibility: a memorial path that involves the preexistence as a place of remembrance and rebirth.
